Are you considering a new mattress? There is no doubt that the right mattress can make a huge difference to your sleep – but how do you know which one is right for you? Read on for important features to consider, and my review on the Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress.
I’ve had my wonderful new Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress for a few weeks, and thought I would share my review.
Note – the mattress was a gift, but this is still my review.
My name is Sue Gray, and I am a Sleep Coach & Therapist living in Deal, Kent, with my husband and spaniel.  I am very fussy about my mattress as I have spondylitis and, in the past, suffered from severe insomnia and chronic pain. Â
My new Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress is very impressive.. I like the support, comfort and attention to detail in its design and manufacture and that you don’t have to compromise—it provides excellent comfort, support, and temperature control – all in one! It feels worlds apart from traditional foam or spring mattresses.
Comfort for Front, Back and Side Sleepers
This mattress is comfortable whether I sleep on my back or my side. It works well for front sleepers too. It is incredibly soft thanks to the Plush Polar Silk Tencel Pillowtop and Nine Comfort Layers. If you would like to know more about the best sleeping position for you, see my earlier blog.
The Origin Hybrid Pro is Supportive
I have spondylitis. and I normally wake with an ache in my neck and shoulder but I was astonished to find the ache had gone, and my whole back felt different somehow – like it had been stretched and put back into place. This was after just one night on the Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress.
This mattress has nine comfort layers and seven supportive zones. These ensure your shoulders, back, hips, and legs are correctly supported. The reinforced edges allow you to comfortably sit on the edge of the bed, reducing the risk of rolling out of bed at night!
We sleep in cycles of about 90 minutes and come up into light sleep at the end/beginning of each cycle. This is when we over and adjust our positions and can wake up. But thanks to the support zones, I noticed I do not turn so much and my sleep quality has improved.
Origin Pillows
Two Origin pillows, came with the mattress. I found them to be firm and supportive. I like that my head and neck stay in one place, instead of rolling down the side of the pillow.
Origin’s Hybrid Pro was Voted the Best Mattress for Aches and Pains
The Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress mattress features unique HexaGrid Plusâ„¢ technology that responds to every movement of your body. It combines wool, latex, and memory foam to minimise pressure and reduce sore spots effectively. This impressive performance led GQ magazine to name it the best mattress for alleviating aches and pains. It has certaintly helped to reduce the discomfort from my spondylitis, and my back feels great in the mornings!
My Blog on Sleeping With Pain has suggestions you can use in conjunction with your new supportive mattress, to create a sleep frienly life style.
The Origin Hybrid Pro offers 36% more pressure relief compared to expensive top-brand mattresses. The Orthopaedic Advisory Council. have endorsed and certified it.
Great for Co-Sleepers
Studies report that co-sleeping can have significant health benefits. It can strengthen relationships, reduce feelings of isolation, and help people experience less fatigue, fall asleep faster, and spend more time sleeping – but not if you keep each other awake!
The Origin Hybrid Pro is designed to help you and your partner sleep comfortably together, even if one of you tends to move around at night. There are over 5,500 robust titanium sleep-engineered pocket spring in the base. Origins’ unique HexaGrid Plus TM, provides excellent motion control to prevent you from rolling into each other.
Do you read, meditate, or watch TV in bed?
I often read and then meditate in bed for 10- 20 minutes before I sleep, simply observing my thoughts as they come and go like clouds in the sky (see below). I also do this excercise if I wake up at night and before I get up in the morning. I’ve discovered that with a bolster under one of Origin’s supportive pillows and a cushion under under my knees, I can sit up comfortably without sliding down or constantly readjusting a pile of cushions and pillows.
As a sleep coach, I advise keeping TVs and phones out of the bedroom, especially if you or your partner have sleep issues. Try to keep your bedroom for sleep, hugs and sex.
Are you and your partner larger or different shapes and sizes?
Neither my husband or I are petite but this mattress copes well! I found that the Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress gives you the best of both worlds. The memory foam adapts to your body’s weight and shape, offering supreme comfort, while the latex ensures you don’t sink in, providing support throughout the night.
The Origin Hybrid Pro offers Great Temperature Control
If you have worked with me before, you know I am a huge wool fan. Bamboo, Tencel, and Wool are breathable materials that are naturally temperature-regulating. This Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress mattress features cooling graphite, a layer of bamboo-infused wool, and a Polar Silk Tencel Pillowtop. This means it keeps you warm in colder weather while radiating heat away from your body in hotter months. The Hybrid Pro helps you sleep up to 12% cooler than other mattresses.
For more ideas on how to sleep well in hot weather see my blog here.
Conclusion
I am delighted with my new Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress. It is well made, and provides comfort, support, and has good temperature control. I like the comfort layers and support zones, which help reduce aches and pains. It is good to know that it is orthopaedic-endorsed.
My husband also likes the excellent motion control and how It adapts to our body shapes. Right now, it feels warm and cosy. But in summer its cooling properties will be a plus. The fact that is has easy care washable covers is a bonus.
As a Sleep Coach, I cannot find anything to fault. It has many features designed to improve your sleep quality and sleep duration.  Also, Origin offer a 200-night trial to ensure it suits you, so I recommend trying it!
